Char Man Brand sauces, brainchild of Chris Sutton, were originally made for the Sutton's family seafood restaurant, Sea Fresh, in Ojai, California. As they started gaining a following and selling more and more sauce, they outgrew using the restaurant's kitchen and built out their own commercial kitchen to bottle the sauces. Char Man is a legend in Ventura County, whether fact or fiction is yet to be determined but the story goes that there was a wildfire in the Ojai Valley where a man died and now if you drive onto a bridge in the county park and get out of your car the Char-man will attack, possibly trying to tear off your skin to take for his own. All of Char Man Brand sauces are made in small batches, using quality ingredients, and hand selected fresh peppers.
